Appealing and wholesome comfort food is our flavorful focus. Join Chef Patrice Gerard in creating dishes to nourish both body and spirit. Much-loved classics made both delicious and nutritious. The aromas, colors, textures, and taste of familiar ingredients will engage all of our senses as we prepare the recipes. The “demystifying” of how simple components comprise well-made food will increase your sense of competence and confidence in the kitchen. This will be a fun, interactive and delicious experience!
With wellness in mind, using fresh local ingredients we’ll spread our table with regional, seasonal favorites. Enjoy just from the oven treats! Master baker Cherie Davis will be on hand mixing up mouth-watering baked goods for you.
Share in the preparation of healthy food pleasures and learn techniques to adapt your most loved recipes with two knowledgeable and enthusiastic cooks. You are encouraged to participate as much as you desire in this informal hands-on format. Engage in lively discussions, hear from an expert Shoals historian, hone your culinary skills, and enjoy wonderful food.
Throughout your comfortable stay you’ll have ample time to discover the absolute beauty and grace of this island. Apart from the foods we will be creating for the programming, you will enjoy the delicious wholesome offerings of the dining hall.

Two sessions offered: choose one or attend both. The other session meets from Monday, September 13 to Wednesday, September 15 and its subject is Cooking Up History: A Seat at the Islander’s Table.
