Our Evolving Social Ties

Robert Putnam, Harvard Professor and author of Bowling Alone and American Grace, will discuss the changing role of civic and religious institutions in American life. To succeed, a democracy must build bridges among us every day– so that we can walk across them on election day. Our participation in clubs and community activities has been declining for decades. Is gridlock the result? What are we doing to rebuild America’s social capital? Do your part by joining us for a week of old-time family fun, and help us celebrate the magnificent gift of community that is LOAS I.
