Shining the Star is a campaign launched in the fall of 2009 to preserve and enhance Star Island for the next generation of Shoalers by ensuring the long-term financial health of Star Island Corporation, and by stabilizing the facilities and infrastructure of Star Island.

The three priorities of the campaign are:
Sustainability & Compliance
Life-safety upgrades are ongoing and part of a comprehensive Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Products and equipment will be purchased for durability needed in an island climate. Energy independence and environmental sustainability are additional long-range goals that may begin to be addressed in this campaign.
Affordability & Accessibility
Stabilizing the infrastructure through a capital campaign will reduce the heavy dependence on the operating budget for emergency repairs. Building the endowment will produce additional resources for operations.
Enhancements & Amenities
The campaign will enhance capacity to meet guest expectations for a quality vacation experience while maintaining 18th century charm.
Cherished friendships have been formed here that are as enduring
as the very rocks. Here we have felt a communion of spirit with those we dearly love.
