Star Island boasts a list of almost 250 recorded bird species and is THE place to witness bird migration in New Hampshire. On previous trips, we have seen King Eider, Chuck-will’s-widow, White-winged Dove, White-eyed Vireo, Sedge Wren, Connecticut Warbler, Clay-colored Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, Summer Tanager, Blue Grosbeak, Dickcissel, Yellow-headed Blackbird, and in 2015, the first state record of Lazuli Bunting. If the land birding is quiet, we will study some of the interesting seabirds that can be found in the area, and weather permitting, we will listen for nocturnal migration. We arrive on island Friday afternoon, and depart Sunday afternoon.
