Conference on the Arts

The Conference on the Arts offers a variety of workshops and entertainment throughout the week. Workshops are designed for beginning, intermediate, and advanced artists. This year's planned workshops are:
Poetry with Barbara Kesselman
Visual Arts I—Botanical Watercolors, with Christine Neill
Visual Arts II—Video Art, with Jonathan Giles
Photography with Marti Hassell
Dancing with Blake Pearson
Theatre with Robin Fawcett
Music (worskshop leader to be announced)
Other activities include line dancing on Sunday night, a variety of evening and afternoon performances throughout the week, and more! Whether you join a workshop, work on your own, or major in "front porch sitting", the island's beauty will motivate your creative talents. Rise before dawn to take photographs or paint the sunrise; stay up late and watch the stars wheel through the sky. Do everything or do nothing. Enjoy the company and conversation of shoal-mates, old and new. Come for a week, and come back for a lifetime!

Registration: A room & board deposit of $100 person and registration fee of $100/person are due with registration. Please mail ONE CHECK, payable to "Star Island Conference on the Arts," completed registration form, and business-sized SASE ($.75) to: Jill Brody, Arts Registrar, 43 East Orchard Ave., Providence, RI 02906. For questions, contact the registrar at: (401) 421-2678, registrar@stararts.org. Registration begins March 10. Registrations postmarked before then will be treated as if postmarked on March 10. The room & board deposit and registration fee are refundable until May 1.
Scholarships: Applications are available from the registrar and must be postmarked by April 14.
