Theme: Birding on the Historic Isles of Shoals (Program No. 11716)
We are located on the Atlantic Flyway and are near a bird banding station. Study birds as they fly south, and learn to separate them by size, shape, and flight patterns. Emphasis will be placed on shore and migratory birds around the Isles of Shoals. Binoculars and a field guide of birds of North America are recommended. Beginning and intermediate birders welcome.
Theme: Watercolor Painting on the Historic Isles of Shoals (Program No. 11879)
Enjoy painting where Childe Hassam painted. Focus on rugged landscapes, the lighthouse, and crashing surf in a unique atmosphere full of historical associations. Create your own mix of class instruction, painting on location, and daily critique to suit your interests. Beginning through advanced painters are welcome.
Theme: Digital Photography on an Ocean Island (Program No. 15432)
View, explore, study and photograph the beautiful Isles of Shoals. The orientation will be in composition, visual language and learning how to see. Daily instruction on the taking of and editing of photos, abundant free time for exploring, composing and taking photographs, daily critique and the mutual support of other photographers make up an exciting week on Star Island. Bring your point and shoot camera, spare batteries and a connection cord to transfer files to a laptop for projection. Beginning and experienced photographers welcome. The experience will be enhanced with daily lectures and films on the History of the Isles of Shoals.
