Voyage out to Star Island in late August for a taste of rustic New England charm in an historic setting welcoming to all people. Discover tidbits of historical facts during a tour around the island. Delight in the company of other guests during evening social hours. Unwind on the expansive front porch with a book in hand. This late summer opportunity is a breath of fresh air before the fall.
Star Island Experience Week is about relaxing on an historic island with opportunities to learn and connect with other people. This is the perfect week to leave the mainland behind, turn your cell phone off (or at least to mute), and hop aboard the M/V Thomas Laighton. Pack your bags to prepare for warm, sunny days and cool nights. Rustic, camp-like accommodations await you, with the sounds of waves and a bell buoy marking time throughout the day and night.
Arriving to Star Island is a joy in itself as you’ll enter into a bygone time. The Oceanic Hotel, built in 1875, offers an expansive lobby for guests to learn more about Star Island. Or, find a cozy nook with a newspaper to complete the crossword. The laughter of guests walking up and down the front porch floats through the air as children play on the rolling front lawn.
The Experience Week is about you. And when you register for the Experience Week, you’ll find that you’ve signed up for a yearly tradition.
Register online to attend Experience Week events, or create your own schedule. Attend a silent morning meditation, tour the island with our museum curator to learn about the early fishing village, or take a rowboat for a row around Gosport Harbor. These are just a few examples of how you can engage with others and yourself in Star Island’s beautiful setting.
