Finding Your True North Part II: You Will Come Back…
8:00 AM EST

Do you remember your first visit to Star Island? Did you participate in the silent and sacred “march of the lanterns” up to Gosport Chapel? Three years after my first visit, I still remember the words someone shared after we quietly exited the chapel one night: “You know, there’s something very special about carrying Light into a place and then taking that Light with you when you leave.” There were so many layers of metaphor and wisdom in those words. Albert Schweitzer said: “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” As we conclude our week together/apart, we pause to give thanks for those who have been that spark for us, that light of hope. Sometimes, those people, those comments, those simple moments of kindness have lighted our path or encouraged us or given us just enough courage or resolve to head once again in the direction of our True North. May it be so for us today as we leave the virtual shores of Star and begin counting the days once more.
