China’s Environmental Challenges: Global Impacts on a Shrinking Planet
We will enjoy stimulating lectures and discussion with China specialist and environmentalist, Dr. Judith Shapiro, about China’s effect on the world’s environment. Dr. Shapiro will discuss global environmental challenges, China’s domestic challenges as well as the effects of the Mao era. Astronomy, yoga, art, bird watching and evening entertainment are also part of this year’s NHW.
Dr. Judith Shapiro is the director of the Masters in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development for the School of International Service at American University. Professor Shapiro’s research and teaching focus on global environmental politics and policy, the environmental politics of Asia and Chinese politics under Mao.
