You are You 2025
June 15 or 18 - June 22
The You Are You Conference (formerly the Young Adults Conference) invites you to embrace your authentic self and explore your passions. You Are You is a community where adults of all ages can embark on a shared journey of self-discovery in the context of a deeply caring, accepting, and fun-loving group. This conference is a great potential landing spot for former youth conferees, former Pelicans, and others seeking a fun and meaningful conference experience.
Our theme this year is Second Beginnings. Oftentimes in life we are faced with second (or even third, fourth or fifth) beginnings, whether by choice or not. The new beginnings can often feel nerve wracking, stressful, and invigorating all at the same time. As we embark upon our own Second Beginning as a conference in our first year as You Are You, we invite conferees new and old to join us in exploring this change.
Through workshops, interactive activities, thoughtful spiritual work, and simply being together as a community, we hope to work together as a conference to give ourselves and each other the tools to navigate these new beginnings and the questions that come with them.
Minister of the Week: Rion Pendergrass’
Rion is a chaplain trained in Unitarian Universalist and Buddhist traditions. Being a part of Unitarian Universalist youth groups as a young adult, including trips to Star Island, was an important part of his spiritual grounding and development. In addition to chaplaincy training, he completed a two-year meditation teacher training with the East Bay Meditation Center. He is also completing training as an Ancestral Medicine Practitioner, accompanying individuals in connecting with the complexity of ancestry and reconnecting with their own wise, well, and ancient connections to the Earth. This is also an opportunity to work through the blessings and burdens for individuals with settler/colonialist lineages. His personal spiritual beliefs are Buddhist, Animist, and Pagan, and he believes in creating spaces of support that hold gently the totality of who others are, spiritually, culturally, and ancestrally, including gender and sexual identity. Each person knows themselves more than anyone else does, with their own knowing, and sometimes it’s just about accompaniment to find the way “home” to their body, mind, and spirit.
