Natural History Week 2025

June 15 - June 22

Star Island’s Place in the Cosmos

Our speaker will provide lectures on a variety of topics that are all related to Astronomy and Space Science but with a focus on the relevance of Astronomy to our lives here on Earth. What if there is life elsewhere in the universe? What if the Sun will die someday? How do I find my way around the nighttime sky so I can share it with my family? What are the water worlds in our own solar system like that possess the three essential elements astrobiologists believe are needed for life as we understand it.

Children are not restricted from attending NHW. However, we ask that they be supervised at all times by a parent or guardian because formal child care or an activity program is not offered.

Speakers:

John Gianforte, Associate State Specialist Professor, Space Science Ed Director, UNH Observatory, Extension Associate Professor/Space Science Education/Youth & Family State Specialist.
