Watercolor Adventure with Doris Rice 2024
September 2 - September 6
Artists travel throughout North America and Europe to learn from Doris Rice. Closer to home lies yet another adventure! Step back in time, and still enjoy what seems like a distant land; remote, peaceful, historic. Paint spectacular views on Star Island, found off the NH coast, among the “waters of N’Dakinna”, the traditional homeland of Indigenous peoples, past and present.
Daily studio and “en plein air” time is followed by comfortable social hour and helpful critiques. Painters have enjoyed Doris’s friendly, encouraging, relaxed style of teaching and her shared love of nature.
Evening brings a variety of optional opportunities. One features guest speaker, Linda Oidtmann, of Dartmouth’s Hood Museum of Art. She will lead an interactive discussion of several Indigenous artworks, in a variety of media, from “N’Dakinna” and other regions of the country. Themes of continuity, innovation and Indigenous knowledge will be explored.
Other optional evening activities can include a candlelit Chapel service, a tour, a talk, or entertainment for you to experience as well. Join us for the adventure!
